About Me

Hi there, it's a pleasure to meet you!
My name is Bonny Chow and I'm an Accredited Practising Dietitian and holistic healthcare practitioner with a Master of Dietetics, and a Bachelor of Human Nutrition.
I'm not just your average Dietitian or Nutritionist
(though as a Dietitian I am both!)...
I don't just give out Government handouts or the "Healthy Eating Portion Plate".
No. I do MUCH MORE than that!

Food is such a powerful tool in treating and managing disease and chronic conditions. Not only this, but also your mental and emotional health play a huge role on your overall state.

I am so excited to have you here where you will understand that "normal" doesn't mean OPTIMAL. That you shouldn't have your symptoms ignored or band-aided with quick fix medications. Instead, you can learn how to take control of your health regardless of what diagnosis you've received.

You will learn that I tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. My aim is to educate, empower and coach you through proper holistic wellness using Nutrition and Lifestyle therapies.

I wasn't always focused on integrating nutrition and lifestyle.
I had to learn the hard way..

Growing up I was constantly unwell with a bad headspace.

You see my parents spoke limited English when they migrated to Melbourne where I was very fortunate to be born. As a result they had limited Western nutrition and health understanding, apart from their Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Growing up I ate Chinese food, but mainly packaged convenience foods as my parents worked in the evenings. Food products labeled "Low fat", "Cholesterol lowering", "added Vitamin C", "High in protein", "Breakfast On The Go". You get the idea. My parents and myself interpreted these "foods" as healthy. Nor was there emphasis on healthy eating at school in the 90's!

I developed constant respiratory infections and took multiple courses of antibiotics. It was our "normal" because we didn't understand nor was explained the long term consequences. After I'd recover, I'd get another infection (sinus, throat, chest, viral, and more).
I'd struggle to breathe around pollen, dust, animal fur and needed my Ventolin as my Life depended on it (since Oxygen is pretty important).
Additionally, I had delayed puberty as I didn't have the nutrients to grow properly. I gained fat easily, but had no height, no breasts, no period.. therefore my hormones weren't working.

Also I grew up in a household with mental illness.
I constantly lived in Fear. I would always be on guard, ready for action that sent my nervous system into over drive. This can explain why I kept getting run down and getting infections!

It affected my self esteem, self worth and confidence because I worried about everything.

Fear changes our brain anatomy and chemistry.

We see things in a negative light, anticipating for the worst, and when things were out of control I would have anxiety attacks that affected my relationships. I had to grow up very quickly so I learnt Life skills early on.

I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I took processed food out of my diet and I started exercising. The baby weight fell right off and I had improvements in mood and energy. Also during this time, I witnessed mum go through medication after medication for chronic reflux, Type 2 Diabetes and fatigue.
I wanted to study how diet impacted on disease. I knew there would be a natural way to help my mum and myself since conventional medicine WASN"T RESOLVING ISSUES.

From my background in Human Nutrition, years of extensive research and discovering the root causes, I used diet and Lifestyle therapies to take control of my physical and mental health.

My diet was changed. I focused on things within my control, and worked on building a stronger and happy headspace.

As a result I don't experience:
- anxiety attacks
- insomnia
- sugar and carbohydrate cravings
- irregular hormones
- chronic inflammation and allergic reactions to the world around me
- or use Ventolin or anti-histamines religiously like I used to
Its liberating to finally live fully without being held back by my health.

Where it IS possible to treat disease using REAL FOOD as Medicine.

I understand what its like to feel overwhelmed with where to start.

Let me tell you: its a lot simpler when we start with the basics.

Today I am ecstatic and on a mission to help people like you

🔥To be the best version of yourself.
🍋To use Food as Medicine.

>>To live a disease free and happy life you deserve.

Can't wait to chat ,
